Dear Friends,
I’m excited to announce that I am running for re-election to San Carlos City Council.
It’s been an honor to serve you for the past three and a half years. Our City is in strong fiscal shape due to the prudent decisions of the Council, which has allowed us to invest in key projects. During my term, we:
-
Significantly reduced the city’s pension liability, which will result in millions of dollars in savings over the next 15 years.
-
Approved $14.8 million for much-needed road repair and bike lane/sidewalk improvements.
-
Allocated $12 million to modernize our fire station and reduce wildfire risk in our natural spaces.
-
Invested in projects that will create more than 50 units of affordable housing, managed by the city.
-
Spent more than $1M to add lighting, pathways, seating and native planting to our neighborhood parks.
-
Provided greater protection for our heritage trees.
-
Mitigated ecological impact of new construction and major remodels, reduce the use of single-use plastics and added electric charging stations at Wheeler Plaza parking garage.
-
Are taking key steps to address a critical childcare shortfall in San Carlos.
During the pandemic, the Council moved quickly to support quarantined seniors and vulnerable residents by approving food and shelter assistance programs. We bolstered local businesses by closing parts of Laurel and enacting the parklet program to expand outdoor dining and shopping. Outdoor dining has proven so popular that we moved to close Laurel through September 2023, with the expectation that it will eventually be closed permanently, creating a safe pedestrian zone in our downtown.
The next four years are crucial for San Carlos. We are embarking on a multi-year project to transform our downtown into an even more vibrant community hub. Significant turnover is occuring in our industrial areas, changing the landscape of the East Side. We need experienced leadership to ensure San Carlos remains a great place to live, play and work for our entire community.
I am proud of what we’ve accomplished over the last several years, and look forward to tackling the challenges and embracing the opportunities ahead. I would be honored to have your vote to continue serving San Carlos.
Thank you,
Adam
